|Terrell Hutchinson-Smith is a dedicated educator with over 23 years of experience in the field of education. She is a native Houstonian and attended public schools in Houston Independent School District. After graduation, Terrell desired to become an elementary teacher and attended the University of Houston, where she majored in Interdisciplinary Studies and earned a Bachelor’s degree. After successfully starting her teaching career in 1998, she became more ambitious and decided to pursue a graduate level degree in Education. Terrell was accepted into the graduate program at Houston Baptist University and received a Master’s in education with a certification as an Educational Diagnostician in 2007.
Terrell continued to work as a teacher, special education coordinator and mentor in Houston ISD until 2008. In August of 2008, she became an entrepreneur and assisted local Charter Schools with special education program compliance and charter operations. One of the charter schools she partnered with in September 2009 was, The Rhodes School. Terrell began managing all operations of special education services and has a proven track record of 100% program compliance. She was officially named the Director of Student Services for the district in 2016. In September of 2019, Terrell was officially named the Deputy Superintendent and is now serving as the Interim Superintendent of The Rhodes School for the Performing Arts. Terrell is a proud wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoys cooking, traveling and family time.
